Freeing both the hops and the grapes
Since one can’t purchase alcoholic beverages in Hartselle, some people go online to buy their booze. And since the city line stores don’t have a great wine selection, people like to purchase a case or two directly from their favorite wineries. And since we are in Alabama, one can expect that our laws aren’t quite up to speed with the internet era. That’s where Free The Grapes comes in, as they’d like to make it easier for folks to order wine straight from the source. Please check out their website here. And to our state legislators who haven’t yet joined the 21st 20th century, teh internets is a series of tubes designed to give consumers more choices. While you may not care about that, these tubes can also be harnessed to provide you with plenty of negative media or give campaign donations to your opponents — something about which every politician cares.
While freeing the grapes will be most helpful if Hartselle stays dry, freeing the hops will be most helpful if we go wet. Free The Hops is an awesome Alabama-based organization which has had some legislative success which enabled most Alabamians to purchase some of the more elegant and exotic beers and ales. Should Hartselle free itself from the yoke of those who wish to impose their teetotaling tyranny upon us, we’ll be able to enjoy higher quality beverages as a result of their great work. While you can find out more at their website, I’d recommend listening to the YouTube below of Alabama State Representative Alvin Holmes’s take on the organization. WARNING: The YouTube below is not satirical, there was no actor involved, and it wasn’t taken out of context. It truly depicts the mindset of those who would outlaw alcoholic beverages.

This is hilarious and sad at the same time. As a Hartselle resident I hope we go wet this time around. Please keep this blog up.
